Contamination Only...

Evalith® from Johns Manville is the contamination only choice. Its thin design allows water to permeate through while keeping the substrate separate from the bunker sand. It’s also a great compliment to our Sandtrapper product line. Commonly known in the golf industry as "GEO-JM Fabric", this spunbond polyester is an affordable choice for basic contamination protection.

Subsurface Migration

Washouts may get more attention, but every bunker will contaminate. It’s just a matter of time. Nature’s forces are certain and predictable. Precipitation, no matter how slight, will force larger particles in a substrate to the surface.
Larger particles can be present in native soils or brought in as gravel forming the drainage system. In either case, a barrier should be present to combat migration.

Product Characteristics

The product characteristics of Evalith® 013/140 are significantly different than the Sandtrapper Product Line. It's continuous filament polyester nonwoven, manufactured using Spunbond technology, and needle-punched for mechanical integrity.

Separation of Soil & Sand

JM Evalith® is not designed to combat washouts. Its design allows for filtration of water and creates a precise barrier between the bunker base and bunker sand. Where contamination is the more prevalent maintenance concern, JM-Evalith’s extremely low cost makes it an important planning consideration.

Implementation

Used primarily in hybrid configurations, JM-Evalith® is best used in very flat areas of the bunker. Allowing the more robust Sandtrapper styles to fight washouts, JM-Evalith® works effectively as an under-layment in transitional areas. In situations where complete coverage is desired, Sandtrapper I is the preferred option. For those preferring easy access to drainage lines, JM-Evalith® is butted up to, but doesn’t cover the drainage system.

Product Dimensions

JM-Evalith® is manufactured differently from Sandtrapper, creating slightly different dimensions. IVI-GOLF offers this product in rolls of 6,200 sq ft (576 sq m). Roll dimensions are 15.5’ x 400’ (4.72m x 121.92m). Product Spec Sheet (PDF)
